Gobbling up the miles
Of rural roads and freeways
Just like Pacman does
My first 4-day rotation at the new operations center is done. It's been fascinating to say the least.
The first two days were slamming for the whole 12-hours. New geography, same medicine, more opportunities and patients. Had some challenging situations, and plenty of laughs. There were definitely some candidates for the Drama Bands.
Days three & four saw another new employee on the rig. Day three was not much to write home about, as I think we saw only 2 patients each. Seems to be a black cloud...
Day four was a little more interesting. Nothing for the first 9 hours. No calls. No transports. No transfers. Just the occasional drive from post to post, a nice long nap, and lunch in the park.
All that was about to change. We ran two back-to-back trauma calls in the far east end of the county. Both patients got to the trauma center by helicopter, called by the first responders. We limped back to town almost out of fuel.
But, we actually got off work almost on time!
And the quote of the day: "We thought she actually had a medical issue, but it turns out she was just dumb"...
