Just for a day or so.  My FTO took a couple of personal days off to attend to, well, personal stuff.

In the meantime, my skill base is limited.  Apparently I can act as a Paramedic on scene, but can't care for the patient during transport.  Oh well - I get to learn the country on the drive in.

3 patients today.  The first was a trauma entry (and a candidate for the brown band, while his girlfriend could easily take home the gold) from East county.  The helicopter was unavailable, so we drove him the 20 some-odd miles in to the trauma center.  Good thing, too, because other than a little perseveration, he did not qualify for a helo ride.

#2 was a standard post ictal psych patient.  Kinda nice to not sit in the back for the mile-long ride to the hospital.

#3 was by far the most interesting.  I got to run the scene and make the call - pace or atropine?  atropine or pace? (Atropine by a nose)  Sped the heart rate up a bit, but made no difference to the blood pressure or general feelings of bluck.  Even the ED staff was a little flumoxed by this patient.

I completely drenched my uniform in sweat at least once.  Couldn't wait to get home & get it off, but I did stop by for a 6-pack on the way.  I'm writing this on the Grand Tiki Lanai as the boys play in the yard.

Damn the beer tastes good.
